Biography

Grace Note has been performing for audiences since the late 80's with Bob Grubel and Tom Williams as the core musicians and several other performers joining their talents along the way. Currently the group consists of Bob on keyboards,guitar, and lead vocals, Tom on acoustic guitar, native flute, percusssion, and vocals  and Jack Bagby on bass and vocals.

Singer/songwriter Bob Grubel provides most of the original material for the group.  Noted for his engaging, healing lyrics, Grubel frequently writes about humanity's relationship and responsibilty to the earth. Bob has recorded several cd's through the years, his most recent Dance When Your Soul Brings You Near is a collection of rock, blues and jazz feeling songs with the theme of personal and universal love echoed in the lyrics. His previous recording, Rivers From the Sun is an instrumental cd that has received wide acclaim for it's beautiful and haunting melodies.  The group performs their acoustic versions of many of Bob's songs.

 Tom Williams adds his fine acoustic guitar to the sound. Tom has played with various ensembles throughout the US and in Europe as well. Tom has released a book and cd called The Christmas Chair, the procedes of which go to The Santa Cares Project.  If you meet Tom you will know Santa lives year round!

Jack Bagby has performed across the Us and Europe as well. Jack played with Darryl Davis Band, Deanna Bogart,  and many country and blues bands. Jack is a performing musician, on the road for over 20 years.  New to the Floyd area, Jack is playing with other area musicians as well. Jack lends his vocal talents to Grace Note as well.

Grace Note has released two cd's  and performs much of that music live. Grace Note's special blend of music has been described has by one reviewer as “truly compelling and captivating”. What's so unique about them is it is hard to pigeon hole their music.At any given concert you likely to hear familiar standards,original contempary compositions,folk, rock,country, blues, and even acappella tunes. With Grace Note you are in for a truly well mixed, innovative musical evening.!
